Biographical Note:
Iain Begg is an applied economist who has worked extensively on European economc integration and its policy implications. His recent research projects have included work on the EU budget, cohesion policy and the co-ordination of macroeconomic and structural policies in the EU. He has been an adviser to both chambers of the UK parliament, as well as the European Parliament, and has been a member of expert groups advising the French Commissariat Général du Plan, the regional policy directorate-general of the European Commission and the European Trade Union Confederation. He was the joint editor of the Journal of Common Market Studies from 1998-2003 and has edited special issues of the Journal of European Social Policy, European Planning Studies and the Journal of European Public Policy.
